Plant Growth Regulators (PGR) for Crops
Plant Growth Regulators (PGR) are used to manage a plant’s natural growth process at the right stage of the crop. Farmers commonly choose PGR products for goals like flowering support, fruit set, fruit drop control, ripening management, branching, and plant height control.
On this category page, you can explore different PGR options listed by sellers. To pick the right one, focus on two simple things: your crop stage and your goal. With PGR, the correct timing and dose matter a lot—so it’s always best to follow the label instructions.
Shop by Your Goal
- Flowering support: Helps manage flowering timing and uniformity (crop-specific).
- Fruit set support: Used around flowering/fruit setting stages when conditions are challenging.
- Fruit drop control: Helps reduce unwanted shedding (as per label recommendations).
- Ripening & maturity management: Used to manage maturity timing in select crops.
- Growth / height control: Helps manage excessive vegetative growth where recommended.
- Root initiation support: Often used in nursery/cuttings where allowed on the label.
How to Choose the Right PGR
- Step 1: Decide your goal (flowering, fruit set, drop control, ripening, height control, etc.).
- Step 2: Match the product to the crop stage (vegetative, pre-flowering, flowering, fruit development, maturity).
- Step 3: Check label details for crop, dose, and spray interval. If something is not mentioned on the label, avoid guessing.
Why Timing and Dose Matter in PGR
PGR products are more “precision-based” than regular nutrition products. Even a small change in dose or spray timing can change results. That’s why PGR should be used carefully—especially for first-time use on a crop or variety.
Best Practices Before You Spray
- Follow the exact dose written on the label (never overdose).
- Spray at the recommended stage only.
- Avoid mixing with other products unless compatibility is clearly mentioned on the label/leaflet.
- Prefer spraying in calm weather (avoid high wind and harsh heat).
- If using a new product, do a small trial first.
FAQ's
Is PGR the same as fertilizer?
No. Fertilizers provide nutrients, while PGR manages growth processes like flowering, fruit setting, and maturity (crop-specific).
Can I use PGR in every schedule?
Only if the label recommends it for your crop and stage. Using PGR without the right stage can give unwanted results.
