General Sowing Recommendations

Sowing Instructions

1. Select a fertile, well-drained field with reliable irrigation facilities.
2. Prepare the field thoroughly to obtain a fine and level seedbed.
3. Sow the seeds at the depth and spacing recommended on the original packet.
4. Ensure adequate soil moisture at sowing for uniform germination.
5. Do not soak chemically treated seeds unless specifically permitted on the product label.
6. Carry out gap filling and thinning at the appropriate stage to maintain the recommended plant population.
7. Maintain the prescribed non-Bt refuge according to the instructions supplied with the seed packet.

Nutrient Management

Harvesting

Begin picking when the bolls have opened fully and the cotton lint is dry and fluffy. Harvest at regular intervals and avoid picking wet cotton. Keep clean cotton separate from stained or damaged produce to help preserve fibre quality and market value.
