General Sowing Recommendations

Sowing Season Pre-monsoon or monsoon according to regional weather and soil moisture
Seed Requirement Follow the quantity printed on the packet according to packet weight, spacing and desired plant population
Sowing Depth Approximately 3–5 cm, depending on soil moisture and soil type
Spacing Follow the product label or local recommendation for tall, semi-spreading cotton plants
Irrigation According to rainfall, soil moisture and crop-growth stage
Suitable Field Fertile cotton-growing field with good drainage

Sowing Instructions

  1. Select medium or heavy soil with proper drainage and adequate fertility.
  2. Prepare a fine and level seedbed before sowing.
  3. Sow only when sufficient soil moisture is available.
  4. Place the seeds at the spacing and depth recommended on the original packet.

Nutrient Management

  • Apply well-decomposed farmyard manure during land preparation where recommended.
  • Apply nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium according to soil-test results.
  • Apply nitrogen in recommended split doses according to the crop-growth stage.
  • Avoid excessive nitrogen, as it may encourage unnecessary vegetative growth.
  • Correct micronutrient deficiencies after proper soil or plant assessment.

Irrigation Management

Maintain adequate moisture during establishment, square formation, flowering and boll development. Schedule irrigation according to soil type, rainfall and crop condition. Avoid prolonged water stress as well as standing water in the root zone.

Pest and Disease Management

  • Inspect the crop regularly for jassids, aphids, thrips, whiteflies, mites and other sucking pests.
  • Monitor for wilt, root rot, bacterial blight, leaf spots and other locally important diseases.
  • Follow integrated pest-management practices and use registered crop protection products only when required.
  • Rotate insecticides with different modes of action according to local agricultural advice.
  • Maintain field sanitation and remove severely affected plant material where recommended.

Bollgard II Stewardship

Bollgard II technology provides protection against specified bollworm pests. It does not provide complete protection from sucking pests, every caterpillar, diseases or environmental stresses. Farmers must maintain the prescribed refuge, regularly inspect the crop and follow all resistance-management instructions supplied with the seed packet.

Harvesting

Pick cotton after the bolls have opened completely and the lint is dry and fluffy. Carry out picking at regular intervals. Avoid picking wet cotton and keep clean produce separate from stained or damaged cotton to help maintain fibre quality.

Important Information

  • Use these seeds only for agricultural sowing.
  • Do not use treated seeds for food, feed or oil extraction.
  • Follow all instructions printed on the original product packet.
  • Maintain the recommended refuge and follow Bollgard II stewardship requirements.
  • Confirm the appropriate spacing, seed rate and sowing time with a local agriculture specialist.

Disclaimer: Boll weight, boll numbers, crop growth and yield may vary according to seed lot, location, soil fertility, sowing time, irrigation, rainfall, pest pressure and overall crop management. The product packet and accompanying leaflet should be treated as the primary cultivation instructions.
