Krishi Rasayan M-Power for Broad-Spectrum Post-Emergence Weed Control

Krishi Rasayan M-Power is a broad-spectrum, post-emergence contact herbicide containing Glufosinate Ammonium 13.5% w/w SL. It is recommended for directed management of label-listed grasses, sedges and broadleaf weeds in cotton and tea.

M-Power acts mainly on the green plant tissues contacted by the spray. Because it has limited movement within weeds, complete and uniform foliage coverage is important. Use a hood or protective spray shield and prevent spray droplets from contacting the leaves, shoots, stems or other green parts of the main crop.

Key Features of M-Power Herbicide

  • Broad-spectrum weed control: Helps manage label-listed annual and perennial grasses, sedges and broadleaf weeds.
  • Post-emergence activity: Applied directly to weeds that have already emerged and are actively growing.
  • Contact action: Acts mainly on the green weed tissues receiving the spray.
  • Glutamine synthetase inhibition: Disrupts nitrogen metabolism and photosynthetic functioning inside susceptible weeds.
  • Useful against difficult weeds: Supports management of weeds such as doob grass, motha, jungle rice and goosegrass.
  • Directed application: Can be used between crop rows when the crop is fully protected from spray contact.

Benefits for Farmers

  • Helps manage mixed populations of grasses, sedges and broadleaf weeds.
  • Supports reduction of weed competition for moisture, nutrients and light.
  • Works on emerged weeds without requiring substantial movement to their roots.
  • Useful as an alternative mode of action within a planned weed-management programme.
  • Helps reduce manual weeding requirements under proper application practices.

Recommended Crops and Target Weeds

Crop Target Weeds Application Type
Cotton Echinochloa species, Cynodon dactylon, Cyperus rotundus, Digitaria marginata and Dactyloctenium aegyptium Directed inter-row spray with complete protection of cotton foliage and other green crop parts

M-Power Dosage and Application Method

Crop Formulation Dose Indicative Water Volume Waiting Period
Cotton 1–1.20 litres per acre Approximately 200 litres per acre 96 days
Tea 1–1.32 litres per acre Approximately 150–200 litres per acre 15 days

Dose note: Dose and water volume depend on the crop, weed species, weed size and spray equipment. Always confirm the exact dose, waiting period and directions from the current M-Power product label before application.

How to Apply Krishi Rasayan M-Power

  1. Identify the crop and target weeds correctly.
  2. Apply when weeds are young, actively growing and have sufficient green foliage.
  3. Measure the crop-specific dose stated on the current product label.
  4. Fill the spray tank halfway with clean water.
  5. Add the measured herbicide while stirring continuously.
  6. Add the remaining water and mix the solution thoroughly.
  7. Use a flat-fan nozzle to obtain uniform coverage of weed foliage.
  8. Use a protective hood or spray shield during inter-row application.
  9. Prevent spray drift or splashes from reaching any green part of the crop.
  10. Use the prepared spray solution on the same day.

Avoid spraying weeds covered with heavy dust, dew or standing water. Do not spray during strong wind or when rainfall is expected. Maintain the rain-free interval stated on the product label rather than relying on an assumed fixed rainfastness period.

Mode of Action

Glufosinate Ammonium belongs to HRAC/WSSA Group 10. It inhibits the glutamine synthetase enzyme, which normally helps plants incorporate ammonia into amino acids. Enzyme inhibition causes ammonia to accumulate inside susceptible weed tissues.

The resulting disruption of nitrogen metabolism reduces photosynthetic activity and damages plant cells. Visible yellowing, browning and drying develop on adequately treated foliage, with the rate of action varying according to weed size, species, coverage and weather conditions.

Important Crop-Safety Information

  • M-Power can injure or kill any green plant tissue contacted by the spray.
  • Do not spray over the top of conventional cotton or tea plants.
  • Use only as a carefully directed or shielded application in labelled crops.
  • Prevent drift onto nearby crops, seedlings, ornamentals and desirable vegetation.
  • Contact activity may suppress the foliage of established perennial weeds, but underground rhizomes or tubers can produce regrowth.

Why Farmers Can Choose Krishi Rasayan M-Power

  • Contains Glufosinate Ammonium 13.5% SL from Krishi Rasayan.
  • Helps manage grasses, sedges and broadleaf weeds.
  • Useful for directed post-emergence application in cotton and tea.
  • Works through a clearly defined Group 10 mode of action.
  • Supports management of hard-to-control weeds under proper coverage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Krishi Rasayan M-Power?

M-Power is a post-emergence contact herbicide containing Glufosinate Ammonium 13.5% w/w SL. It helps control label-listed grasses, sedges and broadleaf weeds.

Is M-Power selective or non-selective?

Glufosinate has non-selective activity and can damage most green plants it contacts. Crop selectivity depends on using it as a carefully directed or shielded inter-row spray without touching the main crop.

Which crops are recommended for M-Power?

The official Krishi Rasayan product information lists cotton and tea. Do not use it on another crop or non-crop site unless that use is printed on the current product label.

What is the M-Power dose per acre?

The crop-specific reference range is approximately 1–1.32 litres per acre. Confirm the exact dose and water quantity from the current product label.

Does M-Power control motha or nutgrass?

Cyperus rotundus is listed for cotton. The spray can damage its contacted foliage, but established underground tubers may produce regrowth. Follow-up weed management may therefore be required.

Can M-Power be sprayed directly over cotton?

No. Unless the crop variety and label specifically permit over-the-top use, protect cotton leaves, stems and other green parts by using a directed, hooded inter-row spray.

Can M-Power be mixed with another herbicide?

Do not mix it with another herbicide, pesticide or fertilizer unless the combination is specifically permitted on the label or recommended by a qualified agricultural professional.

Does M-Power kill weeds completely in a fixed number of days?

Visible symptoms and final control depend on the weed species, growth stage, coverage, dose and weather. Avoid promising complete control within a fixed period.
