Mode of Action

Cymoxanil – FRAC Group 27: Cymoxanil rapidly penetrates treated plant tissue and provides locally systemic and translaminar activity. It is particularly active against oomycete pathogens associated with diseases such as late blight and downy mildew.

Mancozeb – FRAC Group M03: Mancozeb is a multi-site contact fungicide. It acts at multiple biochemical sites in fungal cells and provides protective activity on treated plant surfaces.

The combination provides complementary internal and surface protection, helping manage susceptible diseases while reducing reliance on a single fungicidal mode of action.

Downy Mildew Management

Duo Guard is recommended for downy mildew in grapes and cucumber. Downy mildew can develop rapidly under humid and wet conditions, so timely application and thorough crop coverage are important.

Apply according to disease risk, crop stage and current label recommendations rather than waiting until disease becomes severe.

Late Blight Management

Potato and tomato late blight can spread rapidly under favourable cool and humid conditions. Duo Guard combines Cymoxanil's tissue penetration with Mancozeb's protective surface activity for management of registered late blight infections.

Regular field monitoring and timely application are important where late blight conditions are favourable.

Citrus Gummosis / Foot Rot

Registered-use information for Cymoxanil 8% + Mancozeb 64% WP also includes citrus gummosis or foot rot caused by Phytophthora palmivora. This use has a different application method and dose from normal foliar crop sprays.

For citrus, follow the current Duo Guard label carefully, including the specified use of linseed oil and per-tree treatment instructions. Do not apply the normal field-crop foliar dose to citrus gummosis treatment.

How to Use Biostadt Duo Guard

  1. Identify the crop and target disease before application.
  2. Measure the required quantity according to the registered crop-specific dose.
  3. Take a small quantity of clean water and prepare a smooth slurry with the measured fungicide.
  4. Partially fill the spray tank with clean water.
  5. Add the prepared slurry while maintaining agitation.
  6. Add the remaining required water and mix thoroughly.
  7. Apply uniformly to obtain good coverage of the crop canopy.
  8. For citrus gummosis, follow the separate application method stated on the current product label.

Best Time to Apply

Apply Duo Guard when conditions favour development of the registered disease or during the early stage of infection according to crop and label recommendations.

For downy mildew and late blight, preventive or early disease-management programmes are generally more effective than waiting for severe disease establishment.
